To DoE or not to DoE? A Technical Review on & Roadmap for Optimisation of Carbonaceous Adsorbents and Adsorption Processes

Design of experiment (DoE) techniques are invaluable tools which readily allow for efficient optimisation processes via simultaneous evaluation a combination input parameters. Such approaches can yield positive outcomes whilst minimising the number resources and amount time utilised, hence, achieving more robust approach. Additionally, when designing intelligently information about interaction between variables could be gathered, therefore, allowing in-depth understanding process identification “key players”. This method conducting an experimental campaign is, unfortunately, underused (or often misused) in academia. review aims to technically scrutinise employment design context synthesis deployment carbonaceous sorbents adsorption both gaseous aqueous media environmental applications. We have also discussed how implementation DoE interpreting results underlying trends and/or mechanisms help with better such observations. brief description most popular explanation simple visualisation is provided. facilitate greater appreciation these powerful tools, depict best practices upon their academic research field chemical engineering.
